Frequently asked
How do I join the league as a player?
Sign in with Lichess from the button in the top bar, create your player profile, then open the club you want to play for and apply. The club’s captain accepts or declines.
Signing in through Lichess is what proves the account is yours, which is how your games end up counting for your club and nobody else’s.
Do I need a rating to take part?
No. There is no rating floor and no invitation list. If a club will have you in its squad, you can play.
Do I have to travel anywhere?
No. Every official fixture is played online on Lichess, which is the whole point — distance should not decide who gets to compete.
I applied to a club and nothing has happened.
Applications are decided by that club’s captain, not by the league, so the wait is on them. If a club’s squad is already full your application is refused straight away with a message saying so — try another club.
Can I play for two clubs?
No. You can apply to several, but the moment one accepts you, your other applications are withdrawn automatically.
I played in the match but my points did not count.
Almost always one of two things: you are not on that club’s squad list here, or you have not joined the club’s team on Lichess. You need both.
Check the Lichess username on your profile matches the account you actually played on, then ask your captain to confirm you are in the squad. If it still looks wrong, open a ticket below with the match and your username.
How does a club win a match?
Both squads enter the same arena. Every player scores the usual way — two for a win, one for a draw, with a bonus once you are on a winning streak — and a club’s match score is simply its own players’ points added up.
The higher total wins the match and takes three league points. A level total gives both clubs one.
Who plays who, and is there a board order?
There are no board numbers. Lichess pairs players automatically as they finish a game and queue for another, so you might face the same opponent twice and never meet somebody else at all. That is normal.
What do the columns in the league table mean?
MP is matches played. PS, PA and PD are arena points scored, against, and the difference between them — this is a points league, so the honest label is points rather than goals. Last 5 shows recent match results, most recent on the right.
How do I enter my club in the league?
Clubs are entered by the league, and each one is run by a captain the league approves. If you want to run a club, apply at the captain portal.
You will be asked for your name, contact details, FIDE ID if you have one, and your background in chess. If you are approved you are sent a personal sign-in code.
I am a captain and I have lost my code.
Open a ticket below from the email address on your application. The league issues you a replacement, which cancels the old one.
How do I report cheating?
Report the account to Lichess first — their fair-play system is what detects it, and the league acts on their findings. Then open a ticket here so we know to look at the affected results. The fair play page sets out what happens next.
How do I delete my account?
Ask us in a ticket. Note that matches already played stay in the league’s record, though your personal details can be removed from them.
