Terms & Conditions
These terms cover use of the Africa Chess League site. By signing in or taking part in the league, you agree to them.
Using the site
Standings, fixtures, clubs and player pages are open to everyone, with no account needed. Creating a player profile, applying to a club, or administering the league requires signing in.
Accounts
Players sign in through Lichess. You are responsible for the security of the Lichess account you sign in with, and you may only sign in with an account you own — entering the league as someone else, or fielding a player under another person’s Lichess account, is grounds for removal from the competition.
Club captains are approved by the league and are given a personal sign-in code. That code is yours alone: do not share it, and tell us promptly if you think someone else has it so we can replace it.
Games and results
Matches are played as arena tournaments on Lichess. This site presents results derived from those arenas; it does not host, referee or adjudicate games, and Lichess’ own terms and fair-play rules apply to play there. Cheating detected by Lichess, or a Lichess account sanctioned for fair-play violations, may lead to results being voided and the player being removed from the league.
A club’s match score is the sum of its own players’ arena points. Where a result on this site disagrees with the arena on Lichess, the Lichess arena is authoritative and the league will correct the record.
Conduct
Content you submit — a profile bio, an application message — must not be abusive, misleading or unlawful. The league may edit or remove it and suspend accounts that break this.
Availability
The site is provided as is, without warranty. It may be unavailable or out of date at times, and a result may take a little while to appear after a match finishes.
Changes
These terms and the competition rules may change between seasons. Material changes will be announced on the site.
