HARARE, Friday 21 August 2026: The Minerva Zim Open enters Day Three at the Heritage Virtual Centre, Tynwald Primary School, with the battle intensifying after four rounds. OPEN A: Masango Spencer leads on 4 points, followed by Kukudzarema Shephered on 3½. IM Gillan Bwalya and CM Kaulule Siame Kela are among those on 3 points, with Zambia's Augustine Mtonga and Timothy Kabwe still firmly in contention. OPEN B: Chipamba Walter leads outright on 4 points after defeating previously unbeaten Matiringe Archford. Thandazani Mushore, Caleb Mpofu, Blessing Mbabvu, Knowledge Samboko, Tafadzwa Mukombedza and Tichaona Machona form part of the chasing pack on 3½. LADIES : WFM Constance Mbatha and Christine Makwena are on 3½ points, alongside Colletta Wakuruwarewa and Tatenda Melisa Zengeni. Several players remain just half a point behind. Today brings Rounds 5 & 6, while the Minerva Development Section gets underway. The Minerva Corporate Section joins the action on Saturday.
